Will a godet-style skirt make me look taller?

Will a godet skirt make me look taller? I am a ballroom dancer (waltz & foxtrot) and am having a dress made. I don’t know whether to have the skirt made with godets or not. I am only 5 feet tall and the skirt will come to my ankles.

A godet-style skirt has panels inserted at even intervals around the hem, giving it swing. Great for ballroom dancing. The upper part of the skirt is fitted. The more godet pieces the skirt has around the hemline the more flare the skirt has. Godet-style skirts can have sheer or lightweight fabric godets such as silk, satin or lace. A dark solid color dress (navy blue or black) with a godet-style skirt should be flattering on someone 5 feet tall. However, a dark-colored dress that has a narrow, pencil-style skirt , with a slit on the side, will probably make you look taller and thinner if it works for the waltz and foxtrot ballroom dancing.

What style tops look good with pencil skirts?
Pencil style or straight skirts are timeless, classic styles. They are versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the top and accessories you choose.

A pencil skirt can be worn with fitted or blousy tops. Styles that are on-trend with pencil skirts include crop tops, camisole tops, halter tops, off-the-shoulder tops, and ruffled tops as well as shirt style blouses and t-shirts. For a professional look, pencil skirts can be paired with jackets.

Styling opportunities are endless. General rules, when deciding on what top to wear with a pencil skirt, are 1) take into consideration the fabric of the skirt, and 2) if the event you are attending is casual or dressy. Print, stripe, and plaid skirts look best with simple tops, accessories, and shoes. With solid color skirts, you can wear the same color top for a monochromatic look or you can pair a colorful skirt with a black, white, or print top. Textured tops look great with solid color skirts, too. Tops with high necklines and long sleeves create a sophisticated-looking outfit.
