What is Moiré?

Moiré is an old technique that produces a wavy watermark effect on fabric. This pattern on the fabric is produced by heat and pressure rollers. Moiré is usually on silk taffeta or faille fabric used for women’s dressy coats, suits, dresses, evening wear, dressing gowns and bathrobes. It has a shimmering effect when embossed on plain-weave fabrics.
