Melania's Gown

Melania’s Gown

After much mystery about what Melania’s gown would be like at the Inaugural Ball, the First Lady appeared in a very understated but very elegant, tailored and beautifully designed gown by Hervé Pierre. The gown, was an off the shoulder, vanilla color, crepe with a full-length gazar* arc that opened into a side slit. The gown was fastened at the waist with a red silk faille ribbon. The gazar gave it a unique style.

The designer, Hervé Pierre, has dressed many first ladies: Mrs. Clinton at Oscar [de la Renta], Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Obama when he designed for Carolina Herrera.

Ivanka Trump (left) wore a gown designed by Carolina Herrera that was a champagne-colored embellished gown with sparkle and glitter, a much glitzier gown than the First Lady. Tiffany Trump wore a strapless metallic pink dress by Hollywood designer Simin Couture, with lots of sparkle.

Other outfits worn during the festivities are Tiffany, left and Ivanka, right at swearing in ceremony. Ivanka and sister-in-law, middle, at the Inaugural Ball.

Show Some Skin?
She was so determined to put the shoulder where it belonged. She said ‘women have very round shoulders that push forward slightly; this touches me and I say one must not hide that!” Here, an icon speaks-Coco Chanel that is. She speaks on the subtle, sometimes underestimated but very powerful sleek shoulders. It’s a feminine curve we seldom speak of; the fabulous and flirty shoulder. It was only a few fashion moments ago that we were inspired or shall I say reminded by Beyonce wearing Roberto Cavalli’s off the shoulder yellow ruffle gown—oh how we drooled over the sensual radiance that comes with exposing those feminine shoulders. This moment in fashion time pushed the shoulder movement forward and encouraged us to expose a hint of skin.
