What jewelry should I buy to begin building a jewelry collection?
You can Wear a Pearl Necklace Every Day

How to begin building a jewelry collection? I’m a senior in college entering the work world soon.

Building a jewelry collection slowly is the way to begin. No need to rush out and buy a bunch of jewelry at one time. Start by buying the best quality basics you can afford. You can wear classic jewelry pieces for years with everything you own.

Begin by purchasing one or two pearl necklaces (in different lengths), pearl stud earrings, diamond stud earrings, hoop earrings, a watch and a cocktail ring. You will wear these pieces forever.

From time to time you can add other pieces of jewelry such as vintage pieces and art jewelry, found in art museum gift shops, that accent your clothing and add personal style to your look.

Do you like gold or silver jewelry? Go with what you like. Some women find gold jewelry flatters their skin tone others feel silver is more flattering with their coloring and gray hair divas like silver color jewelry.

Today fashion influencers and fashion-forward women are wearing pearls that are reworked, re-positioned, sliced, spliced, dipped in gold and combined with black diamonds and other gemstones in new ways. Pearls are showing up on clothing, shoes, bags, buttons and hair pieces.

Can I wear pearls without looking matronly?
Pearls are associated as looking matronly by some modern women. However pearls are timeless and always in fashion. Today jewelry designers are fashioning pearls in very modern designs. Pearls combined in various sizes are very trendy today. Pearls are being spaced and strung on metal strands (gold or silver) or are available in a number of colors. Updated ways to wear pearl necklaces is to combine them with colored beads, diamonds or colored stones. Wear them with a pendant and  / or combine necklaces of different lengths together. The fashion forward woman is always comfortable and “in style” wearing pearls.
