Who is Karen Pence? Mrs. Pence is an Indianapolis native, born in 1958, and is quite an accomplished woman holding two degrees from Butler University, a Bachelor in Science and Masters in Science in elementary education. Mrs Pence is the mother of three adult children, one son and two daughters, and has been married to Governor Mike Pence for more than 30 years. She has served as First Lady to the State of Indiana as Governor’s wife. Not too many folks know she is also a trained pilot.
Mrs. Pence taught school for 25 years and in addition she is an artist and small business owner. She specializes in watercolors of homes and historical buildings and believes that art therapy can help ccildren.
Mrs. Pence created the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation in 2013 as a 501©(3), to encourage and support youth and families of Indiana. Individuals, schools, communities, families, and family support organizations, along with arts organizations are all beneficiaries.The Foundation awards individuals and organizations through scholarships, awards, and grants.
