What kind of coat to wear with a black velvet dress? I have a wedding February 3rd, and the theme is Old Hollywood. I have a dress picked out and it’s a long sleeve, black, velvet mini dress. The reception is going to be outside and in February my city gets really cold. 

A coat to wear with a mini dress and keep you warm during an outside wedding is the goal.  Puffers, faux furs or wool coats will all keep you warm outside in the winter.

A long coat to wear is an option and will keep you warm. If you wear a coat the same length or a little longer than your mini dress wear tights or over the knee boots to keep your legs warm. Pairing a dress with the same color or patterned coat would look very stylish.
