What is embroidery?

Embroidery is needlework. It is raised and / or ornamental design(s) made with needle and thread(s) of silk, cotton, gold, silver or other material upon any woven fabric or leather. Embroidery designs can be done by hand or machine and can be simple or elaborate. This season several designers have introduced embroidered fashions in their runway shows. Valentino, Gucci, Christopher Kane and Simone Rocha have designed everything from opulent gowns to motorcycle jackets with embroidery. Add an embroidered accessory such as a handbag, shoes or a belt to update your look. Embroidery has been in cultures across the globe as early as 1558-1051 BC in china.
