A velvet dress can work for a wedding in Florida if it is lightweight, in a pale color, such as light pink and if the weather is cold. Velvet is worn any season if it looks sappropriate. If the weather is hot a velvet dress would not look chic. Also a dark color velvet dress would look heavy in a place like Florida. To be safe and look fashionable look at a silk or lace dress for your daughters wedding in Florida. A velvet jacket would probably look good in Florida when the temperature drops.
