What exactly is "Tattersall" plaid?“Tattersall” plaid is a check or plaid pattern associated with sport and riding clothes. It has alternating color stripes forming squares. The check is woven into the cloth. This style of plaid takes its name from Tattersall, brightly coloured checked horse blankets, worn in Richard Tattersall’s horse market in 1776. Tattersall print caught on in clothing and is worn by both sexes in every season of the year. In cooler months it is paired with tweeds and corduroy trousers and sweaters but is worn all year-long with pants, jeans and boots. Tattersall plaid is timeless country-style!
