Summer Office Style

Summer Office Style

Summer office style doesn’t have to be a challenge. In general the office means business and that means being more covered up. Not a problem when it’s warm because offices and work spaces are air-conditioned and can be freezing.

Summer work attire can be a little more casual because of the warmer weather. Cotton or linen dresses with unstructured jackets or cardigan sweaters are smart choices this time of year and look professional. If your job requires more formal office attire you can choose light weight suits or separates in neutral or lighter colors.

Mix your outfits up during the summer work weeks. Light weight, light color dresses are very summery. Add a bright color top or print top to pants and skirts. Belt an unstructured blazer for a laid back look. Scrunch up the sleeves on your blazer for style.  Choose a bomber jacket for a change of pace. A structured bag can give a summer outfit a professional look. Also look for pointed shoes with chunky heels for comfort and style in the office.

In my opinion work attire has become much too casual today. Women wear sleeveless in the winter, show too much cleavage and wear sandal style shoes to work. Just because everyone does it does not make it right. You can be in style and look attractive in more covered up clothes and it shows that you are in the know.

Bright women want to get ahead because they are smart. Wearing revealing clothes any time detracts from your professional image. Dressing in good taste at work means absolutely no plunging necklines, no short, short skirts and clothing should fit properly not to tight or too baggy. Absolutely no off the shoulder styles.
