Street Smart in Belgium. See what the Belgium women of Brussels, Antwerp and Bruges are wearing. Jeans, skinny pants and ankle shoes are the hot fashion on the streets of Belgium. It’s October and the weather is cool and sunny, great for visiting the sights. Western fashion has gone global! Everyone is wearing the same uniform. Occasionally you see someone looking very chic but not often and mostly in upscale neighborhoods and restaurants.
Antwerp is emerging as a European fashion capital with a good fashion museum and fashion school. ModeMuseum, located in the Sint-Andries zone of Antwerp. Their exhibitions change every 6 months. Currently a wonderful show on shoes called “The tracks of Shoes in Fashion” is on exhibit.
“The tracks of Shoes in Fashion’ tells the story of inspirational and groundbreaking fashion shoes of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The exhibition shines a light on those fashion and shoe designers who left their footprint on the world of shoes by means of the exquisite and innovative designs they created. The exhibition is based on the long-term loan to MoMu from shoe collectors Geert Bruloot and Eddy Michiels, and includes early and iconic work by Prada, Maison Margiela, Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, A.F. Vandevorst, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Tokio Kumagaï, Roger Vivier, J.W. Anderson, Balenciaga, André Perugia, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Salvatore Ferragamo, Patrick Cox, Raf Simons, Azzedine Alaïa and many more.”
