What can I wear to my daughter’s September wedding?
What can I wear to my daughter’s September wedding? My daughter is getting married in late September (Central Texas – Austin area) and it will be a very small wedding in a beautiful informal outdoor setting, although her dress is white and elegantly beaded but short, knee-length. I’m looking for ideas for what to wear. I am small stature, 5’ 2”, weigh about 125, size 4 – 6. I am 70 years old but in very good shape, no problem wearing heels, etc. I am cold natured, so even though it could be hot and humid (you never know!) I would still want good coverage.
A September wedding in Texas sounds perfect. Weddings are opportunities to dress up and you can wear a knee-length dress since she is wearing a short wedding dress. When considering what to wear think about choosing a classic style dress that will look good (not dated) in wedding photographs 10 years from now. The style of your dress should flatter your figure type and the color should coordinate with the wedding colors such as bridesmaids’ dresses, etc. A sheath-style dress with sheer long sleeves or a dress with a lightweight jacket that you can take off or not wear depending on the weather would work. Simple style dresses can be accessorized with beautiful jewelry and accessories to look very elegant. You may want to get help from a stylist at a wedding boutique or a store near you to find the perfect dress. Wear closed-toe pumps or closed-toe slingback shoes with or without stockings depending on the weather. Choose ultra-sheer neutral color hosiery if you are wearing stockings. If you are wearing sandals go bare-legged Draw attention upward with an up-to-date hairstyle, flattering makeup and fabulous earrings.

What Should the Mother of the Bride Wear?
The one given when deciding what to wear for your daughter’s wedding is that every MOB (Mother of the Bride) wants to look great. Your daughter is the center of attention on her wedding day but that doesn’t mean you can’t shine too. Mothers of Brides usually have the first choice when it comes to selecting an outfit for their daughter’s wedding but should let the Mother of the Groom in on what she is wearing if possible. A personal shopper/stylist at your favorite department store can help in selecting a MOB outfit.
