Satya Scainetti
Co Owner and Designer, Satya Jewelry
Satya grew up in Long Island, New York. She has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Social work from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York.
After school Satya began her career as a social worker. “I always knew that I wanted to help and give back and I have always been interested in helping children in particular. Children are the way to our future.”
Satya felt burned out as a social worker and was making very little money when she got asked to help out in a jewelry business. Needing a change she loved learning about the jewelry business and her new job. She also met her future business partner. “After 9/11 I began to think differently. Not sure if I wanted to continue in a business where I was not helping and giving back I took some time off to attend a yoga teachers training where I meditated, practiced yoga and kept a journal. On this spiritual journey I was given the name Satya which means “truth”and I was inspired to create Satya Jewelry.”
Back in New York Satya and her friend and partner started the Satya Jewelry business to create beautiful jewelry with spiritual meaning and made a profit in their first year. “Stones are chosen for their healing properties such as garnet (grounding and inner strength), sapphire (fulfills dreams and desires) and tourmaline (inspiration). Each piece is tagged so that the wearer will know the healing property of the stone and the meaning of the pendant.” The Satya Foundation, a non-profit organization, was started tp provide aid to children and families living in impoverished countries; offering hope, change and the opportunity to fulfill their destinies. The Foundation has donated over $1M (a percentage of all sales) since they began their jewelry business to children’s charities.
“A description of my job would be helping to oversee design, production, and quality of our products plus running the Foundation aspect of our business. The most challenging part of the business as our company grows is finding people with the talent we need that are willing to work hard. The most gratifying and rewarding aspect of the business is our ability to help kids with the donations we make to different organizations.”
Satya says the keys to success are not being afraid to roll up your sleeves to do hard work, believing in what you do and persistence.
In her spare time Sayta loves spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, running and yoga.
