Power Dresses

Power dresses say feminine power and confidence in or out of the work place. They are another option besides the power suit for career women. These dresses are tailored, simple in design and should fit you well. Bold color power dresses send an energetic and youthful message.

Power dresses are versatile and can be easily accessorized for a lunch, dinner or meeting. Scarves in beautiful prints, jewelry, handbags and / or stylish footwear add personal style to your dress.

TV personalities have adopted the power dress. Gayle King, chief anchor for CBS News, loves colorful sheaths. Savannah Guthrie, a main co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today, and in politics, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, wear power dresses. Hollywood celebrities such as Kate Moss, pictured above, looks chic in an animal print dress. The women in executive suites around the world are embracing power dresses.  Theresa May, former Prime Minister of England, and women in general (even royalty) look sensational in power dresses.

How to choose a power dress:

Dresses with darts fit better.

Avoid boxy styles or styles that are too tight.

Armholes should be high enough to hide your bra in sleeveless dresses.

Knee length hemlines are flattering on most.

If your knees and legs are great 2″ or 3″ above the knee will work.

Choose a color sheath that flatters your skin tones.

Polka dots, abstract, graphic and vertical stripes are great choices too!

Top off your dress with a cardigan sweater, short cropped jacket, blazer or a shawl.
