Polka Dots – Stand Out this Fall
Polka dots recognize a modern woman.
Polka dots are trendy, chic, timeless, conservative and playful. Think you are seeing dots? Some designers have gone all the way with dots this season. Styles in or with dots can make a statement when they are combined with certain fabrics such as lace, velvet, or denim, mixed with prints and/or stripes or are big in size. They can be classic in basic styles with simple lines and neutral colors such as black, white and navy blue.
Work Clothes
A polka dot dress can be worn for work events outside the office for an off-site meeting, or any other casual work setting where you still want to look polished.
When you mix prints or stripes with polka dots the dots should be bigger or smaller than the accompanying print.
Pairing a solid color pencil skirt or pants with a polka dot blouse and pumps or flats looks appropriate for the office.
Ways to Wear Polka Dots
A polka dot dress will rock at a cocktail party or wear leather skirts or pants with polka dot tops. Wear a white polka dot top with a white bottom (skirt or pants). A cropped jacket or cardigan over a feminine style polka dot dress gives you a romantic look. Attain a casual look by combining dots with a denim jacket or denim pants. You can also combine polka dots with bold colors.
Tip: Reserve large dots for garments such as long dresses or maxi skirts.

5 Ways To Stretch Your Clothing Dollars
We are always looking to save money and make the most of what we have. Here are 5 tips that will help you make your clothing dollars go further.
1. Build your wardrobe around one basic color and only purchase things that can be worn with that color. Choose a solid color that flatters your skin tone as your foundation neutral. Foundation neutral colors are black, navy, gray, or brown/camel.
2. Buy clothing in colors that are good in all four seasons. There are a number of colors that can work all year long. Reds, blues, cocoa, camel, beige, light grays, black, olive, and purple will work whether it’s spring, summer, fall or winter.
3. Stock up on classic style clothing. We can all use classic clothing items like the “LBD” (Little Black Dress), the trench coat, classic white shirts, etc. These pieces can be worn for years. By adding an accessory they can be brought up-to-date in a matter of minutes. Read “Tim Gunn’s 10 Must-Have Clothing Pieces.”
4. Look for clothing in fabric weights that can work in 3 or 4 seasons of the year. These are called transitional fabrics. Examples of transitional fabrics are lightweight wool, wool jersey, challis, flannel, rayon, crepes and silks. They are wearable most of the year with the exception of in extremely hot or cold weather.
5. Know what pieces of clothing you need before you go shopping and look for those items when there is a sale at your favorite boutique and / or department store. That means organizing you clothing and auditing your wardrobe. An audit is taking a clothing inventory and an opportunity to get rid of things that you do not wear, don’t fit or things that are out of style.
