He has contributed to the success of leading fashion and beauty houses, creating emblematic images for brands from Gucci, Burberry, Versace and Michael Kors to Chanel, Estée Lauder and Lancôme. Testino is known for his portraits of international icons including Kate Moss, Diana, Princess of Wales, Gisele Bündchen, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.”
The above photos in the MATE Museum demonstrate the colorful heritage of Peruvian fashion. The women of Peru love color and these traditional costumes demonstrate creativity and design. Today some women in the countryside still wear traditional clothing daily. In the city of Lima women wear Western clothing but some have elements of traditional clothes.
One of the rooms in MATE is devoted to photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales. These photos were commissioned for Vanity Fair in 1997. “One of my greatest experiences in life was photographing Princess Diana. It’s not only that the experience itself was amazing, but she opened a door for me because I then started photographing the royal families of Europe extensively…this brings out my love for tradition, for a way of showing family and the longevity of people”.
In addition to photographing royals and fashion models Testino photographs hollywood personalities, musicians, and celebrities for magazine covers, etc. If you love fashion, art and design this is a must visit museum when in Lima.
