Makeup Goes Bold: Electric Eyes
Makeup Goes Bold
Major eye shadow is back on the beauty radar. The trend this holiday party season is to go bold, a 1970’s eye makeup revival! Turquoise, Red, Teal and Hot Pink are attention grabbing shades popular among the younger generation while brown tones of eye shadow have become passe. November Vogue featured a model with blue eyelids and a heavy smear of neon fuchsia up to her brows and Britain’s Vogue featured a model wearing a metallic mix of green and turquoise eye shadow with glossy red lips.
The director of makeup artistry at Mac, Terry Barber, says that a bold color eye is part of a woman’s beauty wardrobe. Barber suggests keeping it simple by doing a natural groomed brow and a full lash. He says that a strong color eye does not have to go with a clothing or accessory color and a little clash is a modern look. Don’t be afraid to wear red lipstick with pink eyes.
The bold makeup look was inspired by a book about Guy Boudin: Image Maker. Guy was the first photographer to present fashion items with provocative, shocking surreal and sexy images. His book would be a great gift for fashionistas who love fashion or a fabulous coffee table.
