What can I wear to the Kentucky Derby?

What can I wear to the Kentucky Derby in May?

The Kentucky Derby is one of the most fashionable events to attend in the spring. Women pull out all the stops and go for elegant outfits and spectacular hats decorated with flowers, bows, ribbons, feathers, etc . A pastel dress or suit or bold separates with a large brimmed hat is the way to go. If you are short a fascinator will be more flattering.

With a statement hat or fascinator the focus will be on your face. If you will be doing a lot  of walking around Churchill Downs, chunky heels, wedges, low heel sandals, flats or sneakers will be the most comfortable.

Your handbag should be large enough to carry your accessories (makeup, a bottle of water, your program, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a poncho in case of a shower). Express your creativity and individuality you’ll see everything. Enjoy!

Pulling Off the Hat Trend
Pulling off the hat trend has to do with color, proportion, your hair style and confidence. The color of hat you wear should flatter your skintone (warm or cool) color. Choose hat colors that work with most of your wardrobe. Proportion has to do with the size of the hat and/or brim. Tall women can pull off larger size hats and hats with larger brims but shorter females are best to go with smaller size hats and no more than a 3 inch brim.
