What style shoes & stockings can I wear to a January wedding?
A January wedding sounds like a perfect way to begin the New Year. If you are wearing a skirt or dress you can wear sandals, open-toe shoes, or closed-toe pumps, or slingbacks. The style of shoe you choose should be comfortable for dancing or standing for long periods of time. If the weather is cold where the wedding is being held stockings will keep you warm. Ultra, ultra-sheer* nude color or colored stockings look fabulous with closed-toe style pumps and slingbacks. Strappy sandals and open-toe shoes can be worn with colored tights or colored stockings. If the weather is warm where the January wedding venue is you have the option of going bare-legged if your legs are good-looking and have good color. Any shoe style will work if you go without stockings. Stockings will give you a more polished look and are appropriate for weddings.
*Ultra, ultra-sheer nude color stockings are barely detectable.

Can I wear stockings or pantyhose with strappy heels?
Never wear pantyhose or stockings with strappy sandals. They do not look chic and you will look like an old lady wearing them with open-toe shoes. You can wear closed-toe pumps with stockings for a polished look. Closed-toe slingback style shoes look dressy and you can wear stockings or pantyhose with them also and look very stylish. If the wedding is in a hot climate and you have good-looking tan legs you can wear strappy sandals with bare legs.
Should the bride’s Mother wear stockings?
The bride’s mother or women, in general, look more polished wearing stockings. However, what is stylish and fashionable has become very flexible these days. Use common sense when making fashion decisions. If the wedding is in a very hot and humid climate it might make sense to go without stockings. If your legs look better with stockings wear them. If the bride’s mother is wearing a long dress, skirt or pants stockings are not necessary. Luckily there are more comfortable stocking options today. Visit a legwear store or the legwear department in your local department store to see what choices you have before you make a decision.
