Is Royal Style Fashionable?
Royal Style
Royal style is fashionable and a way the royals communicate messages to the public. Before Princess Di royal style was about what HRH, Queen Elizabeth, was wearing. She always wore and continues to wear conservative clothing consisting of a hat, handbag, and low-heeled shoes. Her clothing is colorful to be attention-getting so she can be noticed and communicate her causes. Usually, her hat matches her outfit.
Diana quickly became a style icon. She knew what flattered her and always looked sensational in whatever she wore. Her style made the royal fashion scene much more exciting. She was amazingly beautiful and used fashion to make a splash and tell a story. For example, when visiting a minefield in Angola she wore loafers and a button-down shirt with khaki pants. She wore a dress with gold falcons, an emblem of Saudi Arabia, during a trip to that country.
When Kate the Duchess of Cambridge, a commoner, appeared on the royal scene she wore off the rack clothing. What she wore propelled a number of brands and designers to fame. Today, Kate wears International and British designers and always looks stylish, sophisticated, and very royal. Kate favors dresses and always looks in good taste. Recently Kate has appointed joint president of the United Kingdom’s Scout Association to work alongside Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. Visiting a Scout group Kate wore casual clothing: sleek, dark skinny jeans; a blue oxford button-down; a black vest; and chunky-heeled, lace-up hiking boots.
Meghan Markle is the latest royal fashionista to arrive on the scene. She has a chic polished style. She favors female-founded and sustainable brand clothing.
