Long dresses can be worn to formal evening weddings. Cocktail dresses are considered more modern formal attire today. Take into consideration the time of year the wedding is taking place. In the spring or summertime pastel and florals are yummy. Black and darker colors are most popular at evening weddings in the fall and winter.

*An exception would be if a bride indicates to guests that they can wear white.
