Is a hat acceptable to wear with a dressy long black skirt & top?

A small hat or a fascinator is acceptable and stylish with evening and cocktail attire. Your dressy long black skirt and top will look awesome with a small hat. A hat has the ability to transform your look and act as an icebreaker at a party. Large hats would look silly with evening attire unless worn to an outdoor evening party in the summer. Never wear a large hat that will block someones view at a concert or other performance. Large or small fashion hats (not baseball caps) can be worn by women everywhere; in someone’s home, for a luncheon, wedding, garden party, to church, movies, etc. Try your outfit on with the hat a day ahead of time to see how it looks with your long skirt and top. Don’t wear a hat if you feel self conscious wearing it.
