Can you wear flats to a cocktail party?

Flats can be dressy and can be worn to a cocktail party and other venues that require fancy dress codes. The pendulum is swinging in the other direction. There is a desire, by women, to be comfortable making it acceptable and stylish to wear flats everywhere. Designers have created many flat shoe styles that are chic and varied. There are lace, velvet, metallic, raffia, striped, sequin , etc. to choose from. However heels will never go out of style but now women have the option of flats or heels when they dress up.

Shoes in velvet are au courant and will dress up any outfit and look elegant.  Something with sparkle such as sequins will look dressy & elegant for holiday events.
