How can I style fishnet?
Fishnet ( stockings, socks, tights) is having a major comeback this season. The fabric pertains to a diamond shaped open knit fabric. Fishnet is available in a variety of shapes, colors and a variety of weave sizes.
Fishnet stockings were worn by cancan dancers and during the Belle Epoque/Jazz Age Twenties era, and Gypsy Rose Lee, the queen of burlesque, wore fishnet stockings in the 1930’s giving them a “sexy” or provocative connotation. When you wear fishnet today you can be feminine, sophisticated, alluring or go for a retro glam look.
Pair with classic style clothing such as blazers, knee-length pencil skirts, a-line midi skirts, preppy sweater sets, or pea coats. Pumps are awesome with classic styles. Also fishnets look cool with masculine elements such as leather and flat boots. If you wear a mini skirt pair with knee-high or over-the-knee boots. Wear sock styles with midi skirts, jeans and ankle pants with flats.
For casual combine oversized sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters, T-shirts with denim and classic or any other fishnet tights for a modern look.
Larger fishnet styles are more suggestive.
Fine gauge fishnets in black are considered elegant and sophisticated.
A monochromatic outfit with black mico fishnet is chic.
Keep makeup and hair simple.
