Should I wear a long evening gown or a short cocktail dress? I am 5 ft tall weighing 112 lbs & it is a black & white tie affair?

White tie affairs are very formal and it is traditional to wear a long evening gown. Cocktail dresses are appropriate for black tie affairs. If the invitation specifics white tie wear a long dark color dress with heels that will give the impression that you are taller. If the invitation says black tie you can wear a dark (LBD) color cocktail dress (knee length) with sheer black stockings and black heels. Dark colors are appropriate for both black or white tie affairs and dark colors will give you a taller and slimmer look.
