Culottes are Cool!
Cool Culottes
Culottes continue to be hot this spring and summer. Culottes generally are cropped, wide leg pants that fall somewhere between the calf to above the ankle. The fashion forward women wear them to the office, barbecues, weddings and they are perfect transitional pieces that can take you into fall if you buy a pair.
In the past fashionistas did not consider culottes as high fashion style but they have arrived on the catwalk and can work on a lot of different body shapes. They are especially good on taller women. When culottes hit the lower calf they give the illusion of slim legs. They are flattering on women with bigger thighs when they are slim over the hip and thigh area.
Shirt style tops look fabulous with culottes. The trendy cropped top is another option for fashion forward divas. Keep in mind that the most flattering tops are slim and accentuate the waist. Chunky style heels, heavy flats, knee-high boots, pumps, and sandals all work depending on where you are wearing culottes. Feminine shoe styles look nice with culottes made from dressy fabrics like silk.
If you want to wear culottes to the office pair them with a blazer. They also look fine with a cardigan sweater.

Culottes are an international fashion trend and are considered timeless, “statement” style. Culottes are wide-legged separates, half skirt and half pants. They have the movement of a skirt with the ease and practicality of pants. No longer considered frumpy, they are crafted in beautiful fabrics such as silks, calfskin/ leather, denim, prints, and bright colors. Culottes in conservative colors will work in the office and are great for travel. Choose a length that flatters your height. They look very chic on tall, thin divas. Culottes look fabulous just below the knee or just below the calf. Avoid any length that hits the thickest part of the leg and keep the other elements in your outfit simple. Style with boots, ankle shoes, pumps, sandals or sneakers
