It’s cold should I go with bare legs, opaque or nude tights? I’m attending a black tie event in a few weeks. The winter is cold here & I’m confused about what to wear on my legs. I’m wearing a silver one shoulder cocktail dress & black pumps.
Cold weather calls for legwear in the winter where it is cold. You can wear shear black or black hosiery or black tights with your silver, one shoulder, cocktail dress and black pumps. You can also try black sheer stockings with a little shimmer. Try all stockings and tights with your dress and black pumps to see which looks best. Black and silver look very chic together. A black evening bag will pull your outfit together and you’ll look glam for the black tie event.

What is the rule of thumb about hosiery vs no hosiery for a black tie cocktail dress?
Hosiery vs no hosiery. Hosiery gives you a more polished look than bare legs with a cocktail dress.. Black closed toe style pumps or black closed toe slingback style shoes look chic with sheer black, black opaque, ultra sheer, neutral color stockings or black tights. If you are wearing black peep toe style shoes you can wear black sheer, black opaque or toe less, neutral color hosiery.
What color of shoes should I wear with a long black dress? The dress has a V neck & a low back & it’s for a black tie event.
When choosing what color of shoes to wear with your long black dress think about if you want to draw attention downward or upward. Since your dress is long they won’t be very noticeable. Black shoes would be elegant with your black dress and a classic choice for a black tie event. You can focus attention upward on you with some interesting jewelry, an up-to-date-hairstyle and flattering makeup. A black sequin or beaded bag or a bag would be chic or a bag that ties in with your jewelry. For example if you are wearing sparkly (quality rhinestone or diamond) earrings a silver leather or sequin bag might work. Try some different jewelry and bag combinations. Your dress sounds like a show stopper!
