What type of earrings do you wear with a chunky necklace?

A chunky necklace is usually large, chunky and/or an elaborate statement piece. It calls attention to your face area and draws attention upward away from your body making a statement.  No earrings or small, simple style earrings are appropriate and in good taste when wearing a chunky necklace or statement necklace in Western cultures. Button or stud-style earrings that coordinate in some way with your necklace are stylish choices. Pearl, diamond or metal earrings will go with most statement necklaces. Usually, one statement piece is enough for any outfit.

In some cultures and for some events it is chic to wear chunky necklaces or statement necklaces and statement earrings at the same time. For example this Indian-style necklace and earrings are stylish in India for some occasions. There are exceptions to every rule.
