Should I wear navy or black hose with a navy dress?

Should I wear navy or black hose with a navy dress? I am wearing a knee-length, navy cocktail dress to an evening wedding, The weather is going to be chilly.  Can I wear black or navy hose or tights w/my black shoes? Also can I wear a red wool coat w/black velvet collar?

Black hose instead of navy hose would be my choice to wear with black shoes and your navy dress. Sheer black hose / stockings would be dressier than black tights. Carry a black clutch or evening bag. The black bag will coordinate with your black hose and shoes. You can wear your red coat with the black velvet collar. It will look fabulous with your black bag, black hose and black shoes.
