What should I wear to an awards dinner for my husband?
What should I wear to a awards dinner for my husband? My husband has won the distinguished Johnson (Johnson and Johnson, Inc) Gold Medal for Scientific Excellence. IT is an academic prize with a cash attachment. This will be presented at a dinner award ceremony in New Brunswick, New Jersey in mid November. He will wear a black or dark suit & tie. Dinner is at 6 awards at 8.
Since the event you are describing is an awards dinner ceremony (not a black tie/formal). A simple knee-length LBD (“Little Black Dress”) is always in good taste. Other ideas are a black skirt or black pants with a black velvet jacket or a dressy suit. Draw attention upward with an up-to-date hairstyle, flattering makeup and interesting jewelry (earrings and/or necklace). Congratulations to you and your husband (behind every successful man is a woman).

The Little Black Dress – The Wardrobe Essential
“The Little Black Dress” has been described as sophisticated, sexy, provocative, chic, elegant, practical, seductive, correct, and ageless. The fashion designer, Christian Dior, said ” You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it on almost any occasion. A little black frock is essential to a woman’s wardrobe.” What’s great about “The Little Black Dress” is that it looks fabulous with or without jewelry. You can wear a scarf with it for an interesting effect and it doesn’t show dirt if you take it traveling. In addition black is slimming so you’ll look a few pounds less when wearing it. * The Duchess of Windsor
