What is the LV Artycapucines Collection?

Last year LV launched the Artycapucines Project with 6 contemporary artists invited to reinterpret the design of its Capucines bag. (The Capucines bag was named after the Rue des Capucines in Paris, where Louis Vuitton opened for business in 1854.) This year another 6 internationally known artists were invited to contribute art to the Capucines bag.

Above is the bag by Josh Smith designed for this year’s collection. It has his name on it in bold colors with the LV logo inlaid. He insisted that animal products could not be used for his bag design. LV created a canvas bag for his design.

Bags are produced in limited editions of 200. Most are sold to VIP customers or to art collectors and art dealers. Bags go on sale on October 30. Price on request.
