Are wearing shoulder pads in style?
Are wearing shoulder pads in style? I buy a lot of vintage clothing, including jackets and blazers with shoulder pads.
Shoulder pads come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They were big fashion staples in the 80’s. However today shoulder pads are in style if they are flattering on you and flatter the outfit you are wearing.
Shoulder pads look great on women with narrow and/or small shoulders. If you have large or wide shoulders, they are not usually flattering.
If you feel the outfit you are wearing will look better with shoulder pads try different size and shapes to find the best style. If you have clothing with shoulder pads and it doesn’t look good on you, remove them or take them to your tailor for removal.
If you have a pair shape body you can wear shoulder pads to balance your hips.
You can get ideas for styling shoulder pads on Youtube. Below is a fun video!

What top styles flatter women with large shoulders?
Top styles that have āVā necks or scoop necks with 3/4 or long sleeves or sleeveless styles are flattering on women with large shoulders. Shirt style blouses open at the neck are spot on too. Dark color tops are the best. Draw attention away from your shoulder area if possible. Never wear anything with shoulder pads. If you have a small waist a belt will draw attention away from your shoulders. A pendant style or long necklace will draw focus away from your neck and shoulder area. Avoid tops with puffy sleeves, boat neck styles, off the shoulder style tops and tops with any detail around the shoulder area. Wrap style dresses and dresses with full skirts are especially stylish on women with large shoulders.
What style coats and jackets flatter large-hipped divas?
If you are a large-hipped diva or have a pear shape body figure, your shoulders are narrower than your hips. Balance your bottom half by emphasizing your shoulder area. This can be done by choosing a jacket and/or coat style with puff sleeves or shoulder pads.
Moto jackets, cropped denim jackets, and belted blazers that hit below the hips are flattering on wide-hipped women. Coats that favor gals with large hips are structured A-shaped coats of knee-length. These include trench coats or longer length coats that fall lower than the hips. Jackets that fall across the widest area of your hips makes them look larger.
Avoid narrow shoulder style tops. Think about drawing attention to your upper area with details on the top of coats and jackets such as breast pockets, epaulets, and big collars. Horizontal stripes, bright colors, and pattern tops are other ways to draw attention upward and give width to your shoulder area. Also, colorful scarves, statement jewelry, and /or hats can be your friends.
