Lana grew up in a small town in Colorado. She has a BA in Spanish Literature and Art from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. She took time off from school to learn Spanish and then spent her junior year in college studying at the University of Costa Rica. ” I fell in love with the country, the people, the warm weather, and the culture.

After graduation Lana taught skiing in Colorado to earn enough money for an Australian sailing expedition. While in Australia, she worked at a wilderness lodge and did a little bit of everything, including teaching sailing. “I knew I wanted to have a lodge and did my first business plan while working there. I then traveled around the world. After returning to the U.S., I led bicycle tours in Vermont and then worked on an oil spill in Alaska with a friend, before returning to Costa Rica with 17 friends in 3 vehicles.”

Once settled in Costa Rica, Lana was in vacation sales selling trips to Corcovado on the Osa Peninsula of Costa  Rica. “Not knowing the area, I drove down to see what I was selling and fell in love with it. At a near by eco tent camp, I became a guide, assistant manager and then the manager learning the business.”

Having saved money when working in Alaska, Lana bought the piece of property where the eco lodge now exists. She then went back to the U.S. with a friend to work and earn enough money to build her dream, Luna Lodge.

Dreams do come true! Seeing this magnificent rainforest with this beautiful lodge in a very remote area of Costa Rica makes one wonder how Lana ever thought she could accomplish such a tremendous task and gives one an appreciation for what she has accomplished. Massage, yoga classes, yoga retreats, hiking in the Corcovado National Park, swimming and bird watching are all available in this tropical paradise.
