2015 Spring Style Guide

Style Guide. The fashions for Spring and Summer can be described as quirky, eccentric, sensual and relaxed sporty. Something for every personality and / or figure type. Designers are pushing the envelope. Below are hot fashion trends that were seen at Spring / Summer Fashion Week Shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan.

Fabrics – Textured surfaces are very strong this spring. Prada showed many brocade designs. Other popular fabrics this season are jersey, raffia, jute, canvas, thin knits, silk, linen, lace, soft pastel color suede, tulle, tie-dyed, gingham and florals.

Pants – Three quarter length trousers, cropped, cargo pants and  flared pants are gaining in popularity. Pant styles widen to varying degrees from the knee down. These new silhouettes are fancy or casual. Fashionistas are moving to flared pants in fabrics like silk, linen, cotton, denim and lurex this spring.

Skirts – Pant skirts, long skirts, mini skirts, pencil skirts, midi-length (below the knee) and fringed skirts are summer favorites.

Tops – Oversized men’s style shirts, form-fitting tops, bra tops and loose knit cardigans (summer sweaters) are popular.

Dresses – Maxi dresses, mini dresses, fringed dresses and dresses with intricate cut outs covered  with sheer panels are chic.

Hems – Handkerchief hems and ragged and undone hems are a strong trend for this Spring / Summer season.

Footwear – The new chunky thick- soled sandals and chunky platform sandals look comfy. Some even have an athletic look. Other footwear trends are glitter on heels, thigh high boots and flat shoes are being worn with ballet skirts.

Legwear – Socks with sandals, pumps and Mary Janes were popular on the runways.  Also models wore thigh high stockings with mini skirts.

Color – Lemon yellow, cherry red, ice blue, pink and white are the colors favored by designers for Spring / Summer 2015.

Accessories  – The good news is that the trend in handbags is away from big and bulky to smaller, slimmer and less expensive. Fringe handbags are one of the hottest purse trends and are a great way to update your look this season.
